Call for Entry; "Paper Cuts"

“Paper Cuts” is a juried cut paper artwork exhibition at the Foundry Art Centre open for artists’ entries through May 17, 2013. 

Paper-cutting is a delicate, tedious art form which requires careful forethought and concentration; “Paper Cuts” will showcase these pieces in Galleries II & III from June 28 – September 27, 2013. 

Both two-dimensional and three-dimensional works will be accepted. There is an entry fee of $35 for non-members and $24 for Foundry members and up to three pieces may be submitted for the jury process.

Call for artists: "Beneath The Covers"

“Beneath The Covers” is a juried exhibition at the Foundry Art Centre exploring the artistic possibilities of one-of-a-kind, handmade books, altered books and book objects. 

Calls for entry are now being accepted and entries will be accepted through May 17, 2013.

 “Beneath The Covers” will showcase book art in Galleries II & III from June 28 – September 27, 2013. 

Artwork must share the three-dimensional quality of a traditional book but can be sculptural, alternative and/or experimental in nature.

Encaustics course at the Foundry Art Centre

Paint, draw, melt, then add paper, texture and much more! The Encaustic Workshop with Lisa Sisley-Blinn is an introductory course that will teach the basics of working with encaustic media. Learn step by step while personalizing your own project! The workshop will take place in the FAC Community Classroom from 10am – 3pm on Saturday, May 25, 2013. The price of the workshop includes a complete supply kit. Class size is limited and advance registration is required. O'Fallon Theatre Works to present Faith County

Tickets are available for the O’FallonTheatreWorks’ production of the southern-fried comedy, Faith County, which will be performed on April 19-21 and 26-28 in the auditorium at O’Fallon’s Municipal Centre (City Hall), 100 North Main Street, O’Fallon, Missouri 63366. The curtain will go up at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and at 2 p.m. on Sundays.

Faith County is set in a small southern town where the beehive hairdo is still the rage and Saturday nights are reserved for the tractor pull. The story unfolds at the Faith County Fairgrounds where a colorful collection of town and country folk swap gossip about one another and show off their handiwork.

Tickets can be ordered in advance by calling 636-474-2732 or by coming to the Renaud Spirit Center, 2650 Tri Sports Circle, O’Fallon MO 63368. The cost is $10 for general admission (ages 18-54), $8 for students (ages 6-17) and seniors (age 55 and up), and free for ages 5 and under. For an additional $2 each, tickets can be purchased at the box office, which opens one hour before the start of each show.

“Faith County offers a relaxing evening of fast-paced dialogue and humorous characters in a rural setting,” said Darren Granaas, O’Fallon’s Cultural Arts Coordinator.

Hudson and the Hoo Doo Cats to perform at Foundry

Hudson and the HooDoo Cats have been thriving in St. Louis area performance arenas for over 15 years and will be returning to the Foundry Art Centre stage on Friday, February 15, 2013 by popular demand! 

With their swingin’ shufflin’ blues, 50’s rock and roll and rockabilly, and infectious dance rhythms, Hudson and the HooDoo Cats always ensure a rockin’ fun time.

Canvases and cocktails

The Foundry Art Centre has artful evenings of fun that are great for a date night, girl’s night, or just a friends night out! Canvases & Cocktails is a guided art-making experience. 

Not sure of your artistic talent? New to art? No problem! Our instructor will guide you step by step through the evening's project. Just show up ready to laugh, talk, and have fun!  

Bring your favorite bottle of wine or drink; water & soda will be available for purchase. 

The cost per workshop is $35 and includes personal instruction and all supplies, such as paint and canvas. Workshops are once a month January 17, February 12, March 14, and April 16; each class is from 6pm – 8pm.

Steel Magnolias on stage in O’Fallon

Don’t miss the O’FallonTheatreWorks’ (OTW) production of the comedy-drama, Steel Magnolias, on the stage at O’Fallon’s Municipal Centre (City Hall), 100 North Main Street, O’Fallon Missouri 63366. Performances will be held November 30 – December 2, and December 7-9. The curtain goes up at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and at 2 p.m. on Sundays.

Written by Robert Harling, the action takes place in a home beauty salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana, where all the ladies who are “anybody” come to have their hair done by Truvy, who dispenses down-home observations along with shampoos and permanents to her clients (“When it comes to pain and suffering, she’s right up there with Elizabeth Taylor;”): Ouiser, the town’s rich curmudgeon (“The only reason people are nice to me is I have more money than God;”); Miss Clairee (“If you don’t have anything nice to say about anybody, come sit by me;”) and M’Lynn, a social leader whose daughter, Shelby, the prettiest girl in town, is getting married. Steel Magnolias is laced with repartee delivered by women whose inner strength, deep bond for one another, and willingness to poke fun makes them marvelous company in good times and bad.
